Below roughly twenty I/O and one screen’s worth of logic: pump alternation, gate control, simple interlocks, lighting and HVAC schedules, small machine add-ons. The wins are real: cost (a fraction of a small PLC with HMI), programming an electrician can own (function block diagrams on the device or trivial PC software), and robustness born of simplicity.

Programming: LOGO!‘s Soft Comfort and Zelio Soft are both approachable; LOGO! edges ahead on simulation quality, Zelio on ladder-style familiarity for relay-minded users. Communications: modern LOGO! carries Ethernet natively with useful S7 connectivity into bigger Siemens systems — the deciding feature in Siemens plants; Zelio leans on Modbus options and fits naturally where Schneider gear dominates. Expansion ceilings are similar and low — hitting them is the signal you specified the wrong class, not the wrong brand.
Our rule: match the plant’s dominant ecosystem (spare parts, staff familiarity) rather than debating the devices in a vacuum. A lone Zelio in a Siemens factory is one more dialect for the night shift.
