Modernization & Retrofit

ZONE OTOMASYON

When spare parts for your control system are discontinued, every fault becomes a gamble. A planned retrofit replaces obsolete drives, PLCs and operator panels with current platforms — on your schedule, not the failure’s.

Our retrofits are engineered around production: we prepare panels, software and simulations in advance so the actual changeover fits into planned maintenance windows. On a 650 mm slitting line we rebuilt the complete drive system around SINAMICS S120 with regenerative braking, returning braking energy to the grid instead of burning it in resistors.

The result is not just reliability — modern drives typically cut energy consumption measurably, and modern diagnostics cut future downtime.

Frequently asked questions

How much production time does a retrofit cost?

With proper preparation, most changeovers fit into planned maintenance stops. Panels are built and software tested before the old system is touched.

Is a retrofit worth it versus buying a new machine?

If the mechanics are sound, a retrofit typically delivers most of the reliability and efficiency benefit at a fraction of the cost and lead time of a new machine.

Can you retrofit while keeping some old sections running?

Yes — phased retrofits are common. We design interfaces so modernized sections run alongside legacy ones until the full migration completes.
